Word for each year

Uplft

5 years ago, I read an article in a magazine that suggested choosing a word for the year. (there is a similar article here) I love words, and I love ‘projects’ that have a clear purpose and timeline. This was a match made in heaven. That day, I ordered a little silver ring with the word ‘practice’ inscribed on in. All year long, especially when things were challenging, that word reminded me that everything is practice, with practice we can grow skills, there is no failure in practice. My favorite crystals became howlite and chrysoprase. Both lovely crystals for resting, and patience.

The following year I chose the word ‘lightness’. As an earth sign and an analytical person, it is not easy for me to take things lightly. I ALWAYS mean what I say, and I tend to be a bit serious about things. I also have trouble letting go, or saying, “well, I guess we just see it differently.” Lightness was my reminder that with intention, I can grow a lighter attitude, and a freer sense of myself. It was lovely! Again, I wore a little silver ring all year. And, it was the year I was in my crystal therapy certification program. It was a great pairing, because in working with crystals it helps to be light enough to feel your intuition! I explored many crystals through my program, but kept coming back to smoky quartz. It is the lightest grounding crystal there is, so it brushes away EMFs and energetic clutter with a gentle touch.

Then, I graduated my program. I wanted to make something of it, to be brave enough to step out and share what I knew with others. My word for the year was ‘create’. I created my logo, a website, and an energy around my work with crystals. Create tapped into my solar plexus chakra, and I wore citrine to let that creative energy shine!

Last year a dear child in my life was very ill. It wasn’t easy to see clearly. I chose ‘ease’ as my word, in hopes that I would treat myself with ease, and find any way I could to ease whatever she and her family were experiencing. When faced with challenging times, the word ease was a great reminder. Moonstone was my dearest companion offering a reminder of the beautiful cycles of the moon, and giving that gentle maternal love.

So much has happened in the past 4 years; so many lessons. This year, I want to check myself with each step making sure that my time and energy are spend on my most important and clear priorities. I will ask myself, ‘will this lift my most important projects up?’; my word this year is uplift. As I step into the New Year I am back with my old friend howlite, and have paired it with Botswana agate . It is a stone of security and self confidence.

I wish you a wonderful new year! Thank you for reading and send me a message if you also choose a word each year!
